Manual monthly balance snapshots — tap to expand
▼
When to update
Record your balance whenever you check your accounts — you don't need to wait until month-end. Each entry is stored against a month (e.g. May 2025) but the date updated field lets you record exactly when you logged it.
What balance to enter
Enter the closing balance — whatever the account shows when you log in. An entry mid-month is better than no entry. You can edit it later if you check again at month-end.
Why it matters
Monthly snapshots power your Net Worth trend, Health Score calculations, and year-on-year comparisons on the Dashboard. Each account's history is shown as a trend line on the chart below.
Managing accounts
Add, rename or remove accounts in Settings → Accounts. New accounts automatically appear here. To rename labels quickly, use the fields in the Account Labels section below.

Tip: If your bank has separate Debit/Credit columns, map both — we'll combine them.
With a single Amount column, negative amounts are spending. Tick the box above if your card statement lists purchases as positive amounts.

Australian Bank Category Comparison
See how Kelda categories map to CBA, Westpac, NAB, ANZ, Macquarie, Up Bank, Amex & HEM.
▼
Kelda categories are a superset — some granular distinctions (e.g. Pets, Tax) don't appear in every bank's taxonomy.
HEM = Australian Bureau of Statistics Household Expenditure Measure (12 primary categories).
Bulk Auto-Categorise
Re-run auto-categorisation across all existing transactions. Skips transfers and transactions already matched by a rule.
Fix Invalid Category IDs
Repairs transactions with legacy or unrecognised categories (e.g. "groceries", "dining", "Other") and maps them to the correct standard categories or Other.
Smart Rules
Auto-assign categories to transactions based on merchant name. Rules run every time a new transaction is added or imported.
Confirmed Rules
Rules you create manually or confirm from suggestions. Highest priority — always applied first.
Auto-Learned
Patterns the app learns when you categorise transactions. Promoted to Confirmed with one click.
= vs ◡
Exact vs Contains
Exact matches the precise merchant name. Contains matches any transaction whose name includes the keyword — great for chains with location suffixes.
